XVI. The Tower

 

Now the Fool must face the most difficult part of his journey through the Underworld: Destruction, in the form of the Tower.  The Tower shatters all the Fool’s existing forms, forcing him into Crisis, his greatest initiation.  His Ego is in ruins.  Yet wonder of wonders, as the Fool’s world is devastated, he discovers an unexpected revelation: the utter freedom and joy of Destruction, for there is nothing further to fear!  Like a phoenix, his True Self rises from the ashes of his Ego!  In the Tower the Fool learns the most vital of truths: to become perfected, all must be annihilated.
